Joel has spent two decades at Answers in Genesis, where he now serves as VP of Design & Web Development — but paleoart has been a constant since childhood. A lifelong fascination with dinosaurs, sparked early on and shaped by his study of biblical creation, still drives the sketches, digital paintings, and diagrams he produces today.
That dual background — a working designer and developer alongside a self-taught paleoartist and researcher — shows up in the work itself: illustration built on close anatomical study, not just visual guesswork. His published research argues for reconstructing animals like Microraptor as fully avian, and his art and diagrams explore the anatomical case for it in detail.
Joel shares process videos and finished pieces on YouTube and Instagram, and writes and speaks on dinosaurs, birds, and paleoart from a creation perspective for Answers in Genesis.
