Microraptor Reconstructed as a Bird
Joel Leineweber
Read the full paper →Published in the Answers Research Journal, this paper argues that Microraptor should be reconstructed as a fully avian organism rather than a transitional form between dinosaurs and birds. Through comparative anatomical analysis of the forelimbs, hindlimbs, tail, and skull, the case is made that Microraptor possessed functional bird-like characteristics — including a swivel wrist and flight feathers, wings capable of a full flapping motion — consistent with powered flight and bipedal locomotion in modern birds.
